About Hans Wendland

Cradled in the artistic embrace of Paris, my first breaths were drawn amidst a lineage steeped in artistic tradition – a family of painters, sculptors, and connoisseurs of art's myriad forms. This French heritage, rich and vibrant, became the canvas of my early life.

In the quaint ateliers of France and under the sun-kissed skies of Italy, I was an apprentice to the masters of art, absorbing the ethereal nuances of impressionism and the bold strokes of abstractionism. My education was a grand tour of cultural bastions - Italy's artistic heart, France's romantic soul, England's stately elegance, and finally, the kaleidoscopic tapestry of the United States, a land that has been both a home and a muse for over four decades.

My artistic journey has unfurled across continents, from the vibrant art scenes of the United States to the rhythmic allure of South America, and back to the timeless elegance of Europe. For a decade, nestled in Switzerland's serene beauty, I breathed life into the Wendland Gallery in Ascona, a sanctuary where art and soul converge.

In the tapestry of my life, there are two distinct threads – one, a dalliance with the high-tech world; the other, a deep-rooted devotion to art. These parallel existences, seemingly at odds, have instead been the yin and yang of my creativity. In this dance of the cerebral and the sensory, I have found the wellspring for my paintings and photographs.

At the heart of my creations lies the abstraction of the tangible and the emotional - a quest to capture the essence of nature and the world around us. Nature, in all its unfettered glory, drives my artistic spirit, guiding my hand to depict its wonders not as they are, but as they feel in the deepest recesses of the soul.

This journey, both external and internal, is a testament to the power of art to transcend boundaries, to meld worlds, and to express the inexpressible. It is here, in this space of creation and reflection, that I invite you to join me, to explore the world through my eyes – a world where art is not just seen, but deeply felt.

Stealth B52 ride at Willowdale State Forest in MA.

Recently I have developed a passion for e-mobility (see Wendland e-Mobility on Facebook) as a result I now ride several electric high-speed bikes and scooters. This video captures part of a run on my Stealth B52 at Willowdale State Forest in Eastern Massachusetts.

Travel is never too far behind. I have been traveling, literally around the world, since I was two years old. Here is a quick train ride in Italy between Trieste and Venezia.
